What is gurr?
Gurr is the Afghan name for jaggery, a traditional sweetener made from sugarcane juice.
The cane is pressed and its juice is heated until thick. Once cooled, the jaggery is cut into pieces.
It has a rich caramel flavour with an earthy sweetness. Try a small piece in tea or use it in cooking and baking.
